Mentoring Code of Conduct

All participants in the HCIC Mentoring Program agree to uphold professional standards that create a safe, respectful and productive environment for learning and growth.

Professional Conduct

  • Maintain respectful, professional communication at all times
  • Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled meetings
  • Honor confidentiality of conversations (unless safety concerns arise)
  • Provide honest, constructive feedback when requested
  • Be open to different perspectives and experiences

No Solicitation Policy

  • Refrain from sales pitches, vendor solicitations or promotional activities during mentorship meetings
  • Avoid using the mentorship relationship primarily for business development purposes
  • Focus on professional growth, guidance and mutual learning
  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest at the start of the relationship

Respectful Boundaries

  • Communicate clearly about availability and response time expectations
  • Respect personal and professional boundaries
  • Address concerns directly and professionally if issues arise
  • Understand that either party may request a rematch if the relationship isn't working

Zero Tolerance

The HCIC Mentoring Program has zero tolerance for:
  • Harassment, discrimination or bullying of any kind
  • Aggressive, threatening or inappropriate behavior
  • Misrepresentation of credentials or experience
  • Breach of confidentiality (except where safety is concerned)

Consequences

Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in:
  • Removal from the mentor/mentee program
  • Ineligibility for future HCIC mentorship opportunities

Please contact mentor@hcic.net if issues arise that cannot be resolved directly between mentor and mentee.
